Like I mentioned before, I like to collect things. One of those things is words!
I love words that sound silly, look interesting, roll off the tongue, or make you think. (Ever say a word so many times it starts to sound made up? It can’t be just me.)
My love of collecting words was inspired in part by the playful world of poetry, including Shell Silverstein and a local favorite, Amy VanderWater. I keep a list of favorite words and add to it when I see or hear a word that has caught my eye and tickled my brain in some way.
When I was a teacher, my students loved pawing through pages of books to find new words for “The List.” We especially loved onomatopoeia (BOING! BING-BONG!) and palindromes (like racecar, which reads the same forwards and backwards *insert mind blown emjoi here*)
